On-call is who gets paged, when, and how hard. Schedules say who is on duty, escalation policies say who is tried next, notification policies set the minimum channels a team must use, and the mobile app is how a page actually reaches a person.

Where to find it: the Oncall section of the main navigation (schedules, escalation policies) and Settings → Configuration → Notification Policies.

  1. Schedules & Rotations — create rotations, add overrides, and see on-call hours.
  2. Escalation Policies — tiers, wait times, and best practices. A policy only pages when a routing notification rule targets it.
  3. Notification Policies — org- or team-level minimum notification steps per priority (admin). Personal channel choices live under Your account.
  4. Paging Readiness — see which members have a phone number, push on, and preferences that meet policy (admin).
  5. Paging Responders — page a person, a schedule, or a policy manually from Slack, Teams, or the app.
  6. Mobile app — install, Do-Not-Disturb bypass on iOS and Android, acknowledging from your phone, troubleshooting.

<aside> ⚠️

A page only lands if the person is set up. Phone number (Settings → Profile), notification channels per priority (Settings → Notifications), and the mobile app with DND bypass are all per-user. Check all three for every responder before relying on a rotation. Admins can check everyone at once in Paging Readiness.
