An alert is a raw signal from a monitoring tool (Datadog, Grafana, Sentry, email, a plain webhook…). Everything on this page is about getting alerts in, shaping them, deciding which ones page someone, and cutting the noise from the rest. Alerts are separate from incidents — an incident groups alerts for a response.

Where to find it: Settings → Oncall → Routing (and Alert grouping, Heartbeats, Maintenance Windows in the same group).

  1. Alerts — the Alerts list, alert fields, severities (SEV0–SEV5 + SIGNAL), and what you can do with an alert.
  2. Routing — connect a source (webhook or inbound email), enrich alerts with attributes, and write the notification rule that decides who gets escalated.
  3. Alert Grouping — collect related alerts in a time window and open one incident instead of many.
  4. Alert Deduplication — how dedupKey stops the same active alert from being created again, and which providers let you set it.
  5. Alert mute — pause repeat paging for one alert from the Slack or Teams message.
  6. Alert Triage Conversation — ask Vibe OnCall follow-up questions about an alert in the thread.
  7. Maintenance Window — suppress paging during planned work.
  8. Connections — enrich an alert with data from an external HTTP system before it is routed. (Different from Integrations, which connect Slack, Teams, and monitoring tools.)
