What It Does
Use a Maintenance Window to temporarily suppress automatic responder paging during planned work.
This helps you avoid unnecessary pages during events like scheduled maintenance, infrastructure changes, or deployments that may trigger expected alerts.
When To Use It
Use a maintenance window when:
- you are performing planned maintenance and expect alerts during that time
- you want to prevent automatic paging for one team during a scheduled change
- you want to suppress automatic paging across the whole workspace for a defined period
- you want to notify people when a maintenance window starts and ends
Before You Start
- You need admin access to create, update, or delete a maintenance window.
- You should know the start time and end time for the work.
- If you want announcements, you need the channel or channels you want to use.
- If you want the window to affect only certain alerts, you need to know which alert conditions to match.
How To Create a Maintenance Window
- Open Maintenance Window in your workspace.
You should see the option to create a new window.
- Choose the scope for the window.
Select a specific team if the window should apply only to that team, or leave it as a workspace-wide window if it should apply more broadly.
- Enter a name and, if helpful, a description.
The name should make it easy to identify the planned work later.
- Set the start time and end time.
The maintenance window becomes active at the start time and stops affecting new alerts after the end time.
- Optionally add alert conditions.
Use conditions when you want the window to apply only to alerts that match specific criteria. If you do not add conditions, the window applies to all alerts within its scope.
