Overview

The Postmortem tab is where your team writes the story of an incident after it resolves: what happened, why it happened, and what you will do differently next time. It is a main tab on the incident detail page (Incidents → ‹incident› → Postmortem), next to Overview, Discussions, and Timeline.

One incident can hold several postmortem documents. Reusable templates live in Settings → Templates → Postmortem.

This page is the record of an incident and how teammates learn from it.

Keeping postmortems written and shared matters most for follow-through: an incident without a postmortem is an incident the team will repeat.

What You Can Do

• Create a postmortem from a template, from a blank page, or let Vibe OnCall write the first draft.
• Keep several documents on one incident, for example an internal review and a customer-facing summary. Switch between them with the dropdown.
• Edit the document in the editor. Save or Cancel.
• Rename, Regenerate through AI, or Delete a document from the ⋯ menu.
• Expand the document to a full-screen view.
• Share a deep link that opens the incident on the Postmortem tab.
• Manage templates on a separate page in Settings.

Postmortem is now its own main tab. It used to be a small tab next to AI Summary in the middle column. The AI summary now lives on the Overview tab, as the Vibe OnCall Summary card. The Postmortem tab holds only the written documents.

Writing a Postmortem

Step 1: Open the Postmortem Tab

1. Click Incidents in the left sidebar.
2. Click the incident you want to document. The page opens on the Overview tab.
