Microsoft Teams Automation Action Guidelines

Pager automation actions support Microsoft Teams and Slack for the same core use cases. If you are configuring automation actions in Microsoft Teams, there are still a few setup details that work differently from Slack.

Key Differences

Use case Slack Microsoft Teams
Publish to channel Use the Slack channel you want to post into. Use the Microsoft Teams channel ID in the format 19:[email protected].
Automatic war room creation No extra Team selection is required in the same way. You must choose which Team the war room channel should be created in. The created war room channel is a standard channel.

Publish to Channel

When you configure Publish to channel in Microsoft Teams, use the Teams channel ID as the destination value.

How to Find the Microsoft Teams Channel ID

  1. In Microsoft Teams, open the target channel and copy the channel link.
  2. The link usually looks similar to this:
<https://teams.microsoft.com/l/channel/19%3A132SkwifSk%40thread.tacv2/alerts?groupId=xxxx-xxxx&tenantId=xxxx-xxxx&ngc=true>
  1. Decode the URL-encoded channel segment.
  2. Find the value inside /channel/{channelId}/{channel-name}.
  3. Use the decoded {channelId} value in the automation action.
