An alert route decides what happens after an alert source receives an alert. It can enrich the alert with severity or metadata, then use a Notification rule to decide whether to page responders.
Use this page when you want to tune the rules inside a route. For a high-level explanation of how sources and routes work together, return to the parent Routing page.

Changes on this page apply only to the alert route you are editing. Other routes can have different sources, attributes, notification conditions, recipients, and fallback behavior.

Within an alert route, alerts move through these steps:
| Step | What it does |
|---|---|
| Receive alerts from | Lists the alert sources that send alerts into this route. |
| Attributes | Optional rules that set severity or add metadata to matching alerts before notification decisions run. |
| Notification rule | Conditions and recipients that decide which alerts page someone, plus an ELSE fallback for alerts that do not match a condition. |
The Receive alerts from section shows the sources connected to this route. A source can send alerts to one route at a time.
To add or move a source:
If you move a source from one route to another, new alerts from that source use the new route after the change is saved.
